Title: What games would you like to see get trans
Post by: DDay on January 05, 2008, 12:16:29 AM
I thought  this would be a nice place to make a topic about what games you would like to see  be translated but I also would like a good reason why you think it should be translated and how you found out about it. I’ll start (and hopefully this would be in the right spot for this and not against the rules which I don‘t think it is).

The game I would pick would be a game that started with the Super Famicom system and worked it’s way up to the present day and it’s called Jikkyō Powerful Pro Yakyū, but I’m really talking about it’s spin off games Power Pro Kun Pocket ( GBC,GBA and DS). I try high and low to find a translation of this game but to no avail.

What made me get  in to this game was a mindless and random Rom downloading spree for the GBA plus I saw the box art and it seem to be something I would like. So I booted up the Rom and randomly picked Success Mode which was in Japanese and I fell in love with the series. I play the game using a lot of save states. Since a lot things were random and multiple choice, I had to save like crazy because nothing was in English other than my Success Mode character (which I named BTW) and I don’t Japanese. What sparked my interest for this game again was a spin off that finally made it’s way to the US which is called MLB Power Pros.

Maybe the Biggest reason Is it would be the first Translation for this game.

I hope you aren't trying to propose AGTP projects (even if Gideon accepted/approved he's got enough on his plate for now)

however if you mean official translations I'm sure 75% of this board would agree that SRT:OGs for the PS2 should be brought over

if really need to know I started playing the SRT/SRW when I got OG 1 for the GBA and have loved the series ever since.

as for reasons OGs is a remake of OG 1 and 2 with spiffy graphics ans a few nice cutsences; plus did I mention JAM Project is awesome

OGs isn't bad, but I'd prefer OG Gaiden, what with it being genuinely new content.
...
And Alpha 2 and 3. Pin those on alongside Gid's current work on Alpha and Alpha Gaiden and complete the subseries.
That and GAGAGA GAGAGA GAOGAIGAR!

Oh. And Metal Wolf Chaos.
The fact that it never came to the US is one of the great crimes of the modern era. Because I am the president of the great United States.

I just saw of video of it.  I must say it is interesting.  There is one particular unit in the game  that is interesting.
NEO GRANZON!!!

But I have a kickass robot with lots of guns. And a hot secretary. And I'm going to save America by blowing up a large portion of it in a spruced-up version of Armored Core. And the reason is because I am the president of the great United States.

Seriously, the game is awesome by most counts.

It's also mostly in English already anyway. The only real Japanese is the interface, and anyone with a decent grasp of katakana and an adventurous spirit can wade through that. (I did.)

OGs and OG Gaiden are pretty high up there on the "please release officially" list.

The SD Gundam G Generation games also make the cut.

That's not the point. :P

Besides, you're talking to someone that waded through most of a Super Robot Wars game with NO grasp of any of it. I've never let a menu scare me before.

I'm just saying.... Someone needs to do a menu hack.

Hm...most everything I want translated is being translated. Mother 3, miscellaneous SRW, miscellaneous megami tensei....hell, even Namco x Capcom. I'd love for some more stateside-selling greatness, but the internet's doing its best to keep lazy bastards like me entertained. May Crom bless those crazy, crazy people. :)

Recently, I visited YouTube and watched two videos for Final Fantasy X (Ten) being played on an NES EMULATOR!!!

So I searched high and low for the ROM, and all I could find were some cheap play tests, one for an NES emulator, and the other was an .exe program.

But my question is: Does there exist an actuall Japanese FFX ROM for an NES emulator that COULD be translated?!!

iirc it a rom hack using ff3 as the base and its not complete yet

Actually, it was a collection of mockups from 2ch of what FFX would be like on the FamicCom, and some retard on a game site misinterpreted them as previews of an FFX NES ROM hack(despite several of the screenshots, videos, and audio clips being very clearly outside the NES' capabilities), fueling rumors that never died.

There never was a REAL attempt to make FFX NES.

i'm with Andrew The Dragon Knight. I'd love to see the sequel to 7th Saga be translated. It was such a tough game, but a classic like Actraiser. Although i think the rom was encoded some special way that makes it difficult to hack, right?

The game I want to be translated the most is an obscure Japanese PS1 RPG called Moon Remix RPG Adventure.

It's a free scenario game with multiple quests, like Legend of Mana or Romancing Saga I think...
But most of all, it seems to be a parody of traditional RPGs and it looks awasomely funny!

Here's a link to a review, I hope someday we'll be able to play it in English... anyone heard my plea? ^^

I want to see Rejoice - Another Aretha Kingdom translated. I played it five years ago and I loved it. Sadly I got stuck at one part and had no clue what to do and the WORDS IN JAPANESE did not help at all.

SRW Gaiden looks pretty nice graphically though

Actually looking at some of the youtube videos for 4 it actually looks a lot better than SRW3, idk

Post by: JayBee on February 07, 2008, 07:04:59 PM
Yeah. 4 is lightyears beyond 3. It's basically the first "modern" SRW game.
Sure the sprites are static(I think the greatest thing Alpha did was add actual ANIMATION to the mechs), but they look decent enough. And it kicks SRW3's gameplay all over the place.

I've been watching this project for awhile now too... I mean, I did muddle my way through the game with a Very limited knowledge of Japanese, but I think RPGs are better when you know WTF is going on... Although I think there was one stage where the Mafia took over all the toilets....

Persona 3 FES is being brought over here.  Now if only they at least released SRW OGS or Gaiden over here with the original Japanese audio, I might actually say that there is a god.

Though to get it in english with the Japanese audio, I might have to call him Gideon Zhi.

I haven't posted in quite a while....  Congrats on the Metal Max trans, Gid!   Just started playing it.

I'd really like to see Arc The Lad - Kijin Fukkatsu for the Wonderswan Color (portable) get a translation.  As far as I know it is the only Arc the Lad title that didn't get a NA release.  I tried playing it a bit and it features characters from Arc II (I think).  I've heard it's kind of a side story.

It's a good series and I to my knowledge was fairly overlooked due to the high price of the original release of the Arc the Lad collection for PS1.

....I still have to dwell into AtL-End of Darkness though so that should keep me content.... :)

I (like many others) would also be very interested in translations for the 2 GBA Full Metal Alchemist games.   Anyone know if these have been picked up by a translation group?  I've played the first one fairly far as a text translation has been written.   Pretty good game (especally for FMA fans :)    (IMO: they should have brought these over instead of that horrid DS game Dual Sympathy.........)

Since it was mentioned in the Rejoice! thread, I might as well mention the Aretha series. It looks like it'd be a pretty fun little series, and since Rejoice! is part of it, albeit a loosely connected gaiden, it seems to me as a fairly acceptable canidate to recieve the blessings of our lord Gideon. Not that I'm suggesting it, you know. Cause I'm not that stupid.

Games I'd like to see translated eh?
Well, first that comes to mind are of course the Suikogaiden games seeing as I'm such a geek for Suikoden. Although seeing how massive such an undertake would be I'm not getting my hopes up.

Second I'd love to see a translation of Tokimeki Memorial. Conceptually that genre intrigues me, but there pretty much are no such games in English out there and Tokimeki is probably the most prominent franchise in the genre so it's gotta be atleast pretty good. Been waiting for this one since 1995 basically...

Then there's Kaizou Choujin Shubibinman Zero, or rather Shockman Zero maybe. Really nifty platformer, I like to define it as a Megaman game but with boxing gloves instead of Buster Gun, and it has an excellent soundtrack. Perfectly playable as it is surely, but there are these cut scenes at times and I have no idea what so ever what happens in them and it bothers me... So yeah...

And ultimately, atleast for now, every time I read something new about Moon: Remix RPG Adventure it fascinates me more and more. It seems like it could be the perfect marriage of well developed game design and total insanity... I just love the idea of that... Yeah... I wanna see that translation happen!

Now that I think about it, there are a few more things I would like to see.

Recently, I found a game called Boukou Danshaku Don - The Lost Sunheart, a PC-Engine shooter. It's one of those weird shooters that has this elaborate story with a ton of cutscenes, but entirely in Japanese. Kinda like Gleylancer. Now that I think about it, you can even turn off the story part of the game like in Gleylancer.

I would also like to know if anyone would care to translate Down Load and Down Load 2, two other PC-Engine shooters (the latter is a PC-E CD game). They are two of my most favorite shooters of all those known to man, no matter how simplistic they may be.

They're shooters, so they don't have as much text as say, an RPG. Might be worth your time.

Here's another one. Anyone ever heard of Earth Light and Earth Light - Luna Strike? They're SNES SRPGs that look sorta like Advance Wars with mecha. I just found the ROMs by random chance, but naturally, I can't understand a word of it. It's surprisingly text-heavy for a game with a chibi robot on the title screen of the first one.

I picked them both up off ROMNation during my search for a RotTK4 ROM that actually worked. I'm intrigued by the look of it, and I could probably play it to some extent like most can play an untransed SRW game, but it drives me up the wall to not know the story.

I third (fourth?) Moon: Remix RPG Adventure.

For anyone who hasn't heard of it, it's the first game by Lovedelic, a company formed in the mid-to-late 90s by a bunch of ex-Square guys, who went on to make 3 (moslty great) games and then break off into 3 separate companies.... the most famous, I guess, would be Skip, who made Chibi Robo, which some of you no doubt know and love.

There's a great review of moon over at gamefaqs for anyone interested, as well as a full walkthrough in English (the latter put together by yours truly). It'd be great to see the game in English, because I think any RPG fan would love it. Funny, touching and whole lot of fun - I'm sure I'd like it more if I understood what the **** was going on half the time - though I doubt if it's possible for me to like it more.

It might be of interest to note that the ISO that's currenly doing the rounds has a glitch in it that won't allow you to complete a certain sidequest. I have an original copy of the game, if that means anything.

Mostly the GBA SRTs, but that's probably a psychotic and over-the-top demand.

I guess, besides that, AGTP is already doing most of what I'd like to see- though I wouldn't mind seeing Tokimeki Memorial get a translation. I've heard it's fun.

When I say images, I mean CD images. I've uploaded the game, without the Kris glitch.

Still, that's amazing - seems like the guy has Youtubed himself playing all the way through the game. Brings back some very fond memories :)

In my opinion, SMT if... isn't really as interesting as the other SNES SMT titles. It seems to me like it's more of a bonus pack of a few hard dungeons, with only the barest scrap of plot to keep you going through them -- it's basically an addition for hardcore SMT fans, but not so hot as a standalone title.

Soul Hackers, on the other hand... Now there's a game.

Does anyone know if any group has plans on translating  "Shadow Tower Abyss" for the ps2?   Now here's a game to play in a darkened room on a big screen (wish I had one ;)

This site http://shadowtowerabyss.kings-field.com/ started a walkthrough guide but it hasn't updated in several years.

A couple of years ago I was enthralled by the(much overlooked IMO) King's Field series (PS1 & 2) and had to track them all down. For those that don't know, this series is a fantasy exploration adventure in the first person.  I was extremely happy when the translation for the original KF1 was released by John Osborne's translation group. (again many thx!!!)  After I finished all 4 of the KF series, I had to track down Shadow Tower as well.  By the same company, similar style, but SO much more difficult.   I'm still struggling through it.....and almost finished.   ST:Abyss unfortunately never saw a release outside Japan. It is completely playable without understanding the language, but would be interesting to know what the story is and items do....  You do have to do a lot of experimenting (not to mention 'dying'...) in order to figure things out.

Oh, you wrote that walkthrough! I've already read some of it. That will be invaluable, especially since I don't know Japanese, heheh.

The music has got my attention-- it* sort of reminds me of the music in the first four dotHack PS2 games (*The "Flower Trilogy" songs, anyway.)

The DQ-ish mini-RPG seems fun too. The imitated 8-Bit music was catchy...

A guy I've been in contact with has started a first pass translation - I'm taking play-through screenshots for him and will probably do the final edit if it gets that far - and he's asked me to put out some feelers for someone to help out. If you're interested at all, check out his site: http://www.sennue.com/en/moon/

One game I was surprised to find hasn't yet been translated is "Marvelous: Another Treasure Island" ("Marvelous: Mouhitotsu no Takarajim").

It's the first game designed by Eiji Aonuma, who is now the director of the Zelda games.  It's really excellent, a little like Link to the Past, but with more of a puzzle focus, and with a party of three boys who each have slightly different skills.

It's one of the many late, great SNES adventures/RPGS touted in Nintendo Power's 'Epic Center' section only to NEVER see the light of day Stateside...

Personally, I'm still patiently waiting for Metal Max 2. Seems hacking it isn't too easy, according to what I read... somewhere. The more recent DS game (Metal Saga: Hagane no Kisetsu) looks pretty neat as well, but I haven't seen any interest on it, so I'm not keeping my hopes up for a translation.

I would like to see the Cave-Story-like platformer HACK9 translated, and would in fact be willing to do the translation for it if someone else can get me a full text dump... and generally handle the patching part of the "translation patch" process.

I read about it right here (http://agtp.romhack.net/pantheon/index.php?topic=210.0) in the Pantheon, and the thing has a cool plot, excellent gameplay, and a very interesting twist on Cave Story's gameplay through an increased emphasis on close-quarters combat.  All the strongest weapons take MP, which is finite (though enemies often drop 1-MP restorers); because of the way your enemies get stunned when hit, your best bet is often to grab a sword and hack away at close range instead.

I'm nearly done with the game, and have good notes throughout, including a terrible ASCII map.  Oh, also, there's a wiki for it:
http://wikiwiki.jp/hack9/

But yeah, I'd be glad and eager to do the translation for this!

No such beast exists. Though a Megadrive Phantasy Star cartridge WAS sold, it was not a remake. Not even a port.

It's actually the Mark 3/SMS  ROMs and a Power Base Converter/Mega Adapter.

Hello to all!

As my first post here, I wanted to heartly thank the people involved with the fact of translating and refurbishing the mythic star fox 2. Your work has truly been appreciated by hundreds of space sim fans like me.

I'm also here to gather answers to a question though: I have managed to acquire information on a space sim title called homeplanet gold which was supposed to be released in an english version. Unfortunately, after acquiring the game, I discovered that the company had gone under, thus the title had only undergone a national release... in russia.

What I would like to know is might people here (or elsewhere) be able to "subtitle" the game in english? It would be a wish come true for space sim fans. Also, I'm in possession of elements (including a limited script) from a creator of the game. mostly, the game engine later served as the engine used in the babylon 5: I've found her freeware project.

I sincerely hope you won't find any rudeness in my quiery. I am mostly awaiting your advice.

best regards.

mikael.

Are there any plans to pursue more projects for the PC? Can you imagine what the world would be like if Cave Story or LM hadn't been translated? I'm not sure what other games are out there but it seems like Gideon and Aeon Genesis has a good eye for them, now we just need it used more.

I wish there we could see a Metroidvania/Zelda type game where you play as a Ninja. Considering how many weapons and tools they have at their disposal, it would make a great game. Anyone know if there is something like that?

Man, there are so many games that I'd surely love to see get translated, but if I had to pick only three, I'd pick the following since they are not only worthy of a translation, but would fit in very well with the already existing lineup of SFC / AARPG titles AGTP has already worked on in the past.

1. Ys V - Sand City of Kefin. - SFC - I know that you all have this listed as a project already, and also that it is apparently a beast to hack, but please don't give up on it. You are the English speaking Ys community's only hope of ever seeing the fifth game in English, and most fans say it is one of the best in the series. If there is anything that fans could help out on should this project get started up again, please don't hesitate to let us know. I know several of us that would bend over backwards to see this be a finished project.

2. Xak: The Art of Visual Stage - SFC
Xak is a older AARPG series that got it's start back in the day on some of the older Japanese computer hardware, such as the PC-88, PC-98 and MSX. Most of the MSX games have been fan-translated, as well as the spinoff, Fray in Magical Adventure. And the first one (MSX version) even got picked up for an official translation by Woomb.net, which is no longer in service. Some of their stuff went to Project Egg. Anyway, it's a great series and only one installment was ever on the SFC, the first one, which was developed by Sunsoft. It's got a completely different look and feel to the game from the MSX incarnation, but extremely fun none-the-less which will remind many people of Zelda 3, Lagoon and Ys. Awhile ago, I was hopelessly obsessed with the series and made one of the largest tribute sites to Xak that any English fan could ever imagine. Feel free to check it out sometime, I'd appreciate it. : )

www.miraigamer.net/xyz

3. Wander Wonder - PC.
Wander Wonder is a game that most people have never heard about, developed by Compile in 2000, makers of so many classic games and some of my all time favorites such as the Guardian Legend and Golvellius. This game is a MUST play for anyone that enjoys a good challenging ARPG. The game itself mostly plays like the first Alundra for PSX, with many Zelda series references and styles, a bit of Ys again, and a item/equipment drop system similar to Diablo. The art style is kickass and the puzzles are intense! When you play it, it is hard to imagine that Gamefaqs had never even heard of it before. I had to list the game, screens and boxart myself. And I'm happy I did, because if I can the knowledge of this game to others to try it, then that is one step closer to possibly seeing it in English one day.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/home/959707.html

Thanks for looking and keep up the good work everyone!

Well, for WSC there is a few nice games for example Arc the Lad - Kijin Fukkatsu. When I first saw few games in japanesse for SNES or WSC I even started to learn the language because I know they will never be translated/released in english. Walking and pushing button to everything is not my style, I like to know what's going on in game.

While I can think of many games worthy of translation, I would have to choose:

Kidou Senshi Gundam: Gihren no Yabou (Gihren's Ambition)

and

Kidou Senshi Gundam: Gihren no Yabou, Zeon no Keifu
(Mobile Suit Gundam: Gihren's Greed: Blood of Zeon)

The reason I would pick these  games to translate is because there are no current translations for these games; from everything I've heard about them, their great games; and there aren't a whole lot of good strategy gundam games.
Here's a few links to some good info on these games.

They should translate the entire rushing beat series. The japanese versions had a story that linked the entire trilogy together, but were removed in the US versions. They even turned a white guy black, no lie.

There's a 2 part video up, compairing the US/EUR versions with the japanes original's.

Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo-1vxd-ZcE'
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HdpI4KajPlw

It'd be intresting to see gideon translate this series of games, and they wouldn't take them all that lone either (With the exception of shura.)

It's rather dodgey at times, given that Mana Sword isn't a native speaker, but it conveys the general idea decently enough and he hacked in a special feature.

Someone should make a real font width hack.
Such as needing a savestate hacking program to de-T E R R A N I G M A the player name. :P
Though it was understandable at the time, as there were very few ASM hackers then.
I hear the rest was like compressed graphics (again, due to lack of ASM hackers) and credits (nobody able to properly romanize the kanji?).

Oh so many I would like to see translated.

Ginga no San-nin for NES

Jojo Kimyou na Bouken for SNES (even though it looks like crap, but I'm a gigantic fan of Jojo)

Emerald Dragon for anything but the SNES (you can tell by my name and pic that I really like Emerald Dragon)

The PS2 Phantasy Star remakes (never gonna happen)

Record of Lodoss War for SNES (someone was working on it, but stopped after translating the dialogue)

And... dang I know I have so many more, but I can never remember things when I need to T_T

No rush, the thread isn't going anywhere.

And while it's up... BioMotor Unitron 2.
A COMPLETE translation for Cardfighters Clash 2 would be nice, too.

God dammit, SNK, would it have killed you to keep the American branch open just a few more months so the NGPC could go out on a high note?
...
Well, okay, it probably would've, given you went bankrupt a few months later ANYWAYS, but... it couldn't have been any WORSE.

And while I mentioned it before, Etoile Princess (http://www2.plala.or.jp/yasinoue/oldgame/etpri.html) bears re-mentioning, just to expose people to it again.

I quit playing it because the general lack of any idea what I was doing over-rode the gameplay and cute factor. Had a bag full of items and no clue what they did. Except for the berries that restored my HP. I DID accidentally find out you can switch party members, though.  Which renewed interest for a little while.

I've actually seen a lot of JPC games that could use some eyes turned on them... but none of those other games take place in the magical kingdom of FAIL LAND!
http://www2.plala.or.jp/yasinoue/oldgame/image/etpr2.JPG
And there's the map shot to prove it!

Hi all. I'm new to the Pantheon. Been downloading a few of the games here for some time now. Made an account just to say that I LOVE what this site is doing! If I may request a game to be translated, I'd like to mention "Super Robot Wars/Taisen Gaiden". Its already in the active projects list, but progress it hasn't moved in more I don't know how many years. I'd just to follow this up since its an awesome title for the series that already went through a remake on the DS, but with the exact same storyline (albeit a few changed dialogue since it follows the OG-verse instead of the classic timeline in this game, but still!). I really hope I'll be able to play this game in full English someday. Until then, rock on guys!

Oh! I remember another one: Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru aka For the Frog the Bell Tolls for Game Boy. There was a translation project for it but it's been dead for like a year :/

Also Marl Kingdom 2, but I know PSX games are hard to make patches for so I've accepted that I'll never play it without having to learn Japanese which I am far too lazy to do >_>

Ys V
Wasn't Ys V already translated? I could've sworn I had it at some point. Or maybe it was Ys IV I'm thinking of. I dunno. Either way it's in the process of being translated by this site, so be patient.

Anyway, another few I'd like to see get translated are Klonoa Heroes: Legend of the Star Medal for GBA (which was being translated by a fangroup, but that project was also canceled), more games from the Madou Monogatari series, Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei and Shin Megami Tensei if...

[EDIT] While I'm here (and if Gideon or any of the other hackers/translators read this thread for whatever reason), I want to thank you all for the translations of Live-A-Live (AWESOME game), Mystic Ark, Madou Monogatari, Clock Tower, Treasure of the Rudras and the Shin Megami Tensei games (and my boyfriend would like to thank you for Cyborg 009 and Magical Pop'n), and I'm looking forward to seeing Ladystalker and the SaGa games get finished. Good luck in the future you guys/girls ^.^

I discovered recently an snes rpg by the name of ´´The Last Battle´´ it was made by a company named Teichiku, just that this game is so obscure that i didnt found even videos of it in youtube, i only saw some pictures and it looked like FF 6 to me.

From what i have read about it, the hero is am apprentice  magician and must of course save the medieval world of something like that.

This game reminded me of Ancient Magic that is currently being translated here(fantasy world magician hero)....

I'm going to update my list a little to included Emblem of Gundam.
Its awesomeness can not be understated. Here's a video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSB0mWXX8cA

Official Site: http://emblemofgundam.com/

It seems to be a combination of SRW and Girhen's Greed that includes the entirety of Gundam. Having the ability to play through all of Gundam in a SRPG game is the essence of greatness. I can't believe were not getting a translation from Bandai on this one. Gundam is still popular in the English speaking world and this might be the greatest Gundam game ever.

For a long time I wanted to see Super Robot Wars W in English. A game with Gundam Wing, GaoGaiGar, AND Golion in one package is not something I'd want to miss. It seems like a natural choice, though I don't know how difficult it is to work with DS games.

I would say Super Robot Wars Alpha 3, but I'm not tech-savvy enough to get any PS2 emulator working on my PC. Similarly, I would be exited for that SRW Alpha translation, but the game seems to be incompatible with EVERY PS1 emulator.

I'm a little sad that Moon: Remix of an RPG to this day has no progression for translation.  From what I know, the game is massive in dialog, as dialog is the games focal point, which would explain a lot of translators are hesitant to pick up where so many left off.
It could also be copyright issues coming to play, as I heard copies of it were still selling in Japan a few years ago, though technically translations are not effected by such things.
I know many have suggested Moon numerous times, and many more will continue to do so.  I can only imagine how much Gideon is over worked, though I think I speak for most everyone here that seeing Moon in the projects (to do list) would comfort many, as progress would at least continue, and eventually finish.  Or perhaps it would just spur people commenting "Is it done yet?" even more so?  Even if that is the case, its for a good cause, right? ^^;;;

It's actually a rather brutal cost when it's every save game in your entire library, including your in-progress SRWF game.

But I was being sarcastic anyways. Play the PS1 version of F/FF. Same game, sans save-destroying bugs(also tiny-ass PS1 memcards serving to limit the damage anyways).

And always deploy your Evas. AT field = easy mode in F/FF.

And if you're anything like me, give Eva-02 a Minovsky craft item. Invincible death from above!
... until you realize the 02 completely lacks any sort of anti-air weaponry, and the fact that it's already flying has no bearing on whether it can use a hatchet on a jetplane.

I always back-up my saves, and anyways i have a seperate referbished computer set up for my "emulation needs" Also im not sure which version TRHA is translating, and also I havent played F yet im trying to get 100% on alpha genesis (currently at about 98%).

Also i've been trying my hand at hacking one of the srw games, srwR to be precise and well... the making the table file itself is pissing me off It uses 2 hiragana sets, 2american alphabet sets, a kana set, a kanji set, roman numberal set, a greek alphabet, and a russian alphabet (It is sjis format but i need a table file for my hexeditor). But why the hell does is even need a russian alphabet? it doesn't even use it!. well so far the characters go from hex values 8100 to about FC00

You copy the whole SRAM/memcard image off after every session? Hardcore.
...
You know, I'm not even sure anymore. Does SSF use a single SRAM image for the emulated console, or separate per-game SRAM images?

Nev mind. Confirmed it's real system-style, one SRAM image for all games.

Cheers! It's not perfect, but it's much better.

Anyway, to answer your question, I'm not really working on any of them when I have free time, because I basically don't have any free time. This doesn't apply just to SRW though; I've got a bunch of stuff that's really really really close to being ready for release, but I haven't touched any of them in over a month because I've been too buried under class work.

When I do get some time, I'm most likely to be plugging away at either SRWEX or Masoukishin, mostly because they're technically the most far along. Alpha proceeds in parallel as a separate sort of thing, because the big bottleneck there is text editing and not necessarily tech work. EX and Masoukishin both need heavy text editing too, but their scripts *combined* are roughly four times smaller than Alpha's alone.

I love the premise for the game and it'd make one hell of a piece in my RPG collection!

So I was browsing rakuten and noticed the wonderful machine translation translated "super" as "supermarket"
So there's games like Supermarket Robot Wars.
Forget about getting a translation, I want this to exist at all. :D

I could probably come up with a fairly extensive list. Here are a few:

Marvelous: Mouhitotsu no Takarajima
Albert Odyssey 1 & 2
First Queen
Ganbare Goemon 2-4 (SNES)
Popful Mail (The SCD version was translation but it's quite different from the SNES version)

I... wait, there's an SNES version too?

I knew about the original PC-98 version, and the SCD port, and the TurboCD port, but... somehow the SNES port escaped my notice.

What is it with classic Falcom games and running on every system under the sun, anyways?

Also, Super Chinese World 2 & 3 for SNES. (The first one was localized under the name "Super Ninja Boy")

That was during their period of trying to get a footing out in the west, which brought about such gems as Ys III.

Then again they're currently trying to put their Legend of Heroes series out on mobile devices and Steam, so I guess it applies to more than just the classics.

Anyways wasn't the SegaCD version one of the higher quality versions anyways (despite it also being one of the few to still use flipped sprites for Mail and co rather than individual sprites for facing left and facing right.)?

I think the Sega CD version is considered the best, although I actually prefer the music of the SNES version.

I rarely deal in absolutes and outrights, but I can say with almost complete certainty that I will *never* work on the SNES Popful Mail title. It uses a similar engine to Ys 5, where every area is compressed with its event code and text - and its event code is mostly assembly with assembly pointers to the text and between the text at that. It's really, really, really nasty stuff.

How about Magical Vacation for GBA?  I know a lot of people are dying to see it translated because it is one of the few games by Brownie Brown outside of their work on the Mana series.  Also, it is WAY better than Sword of Mana and, in my opinion, the most beautifully rendered game ever made for the GBA.

I'm not sure of any particular reason why it hasn't already been hacked, but it has been translated to a limited degree in the form of a wiki.  I just wish there was a translation of the story and not just the basic menus, etc.

Since SMT If... is getting translated... I would like Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei which has Megami Tensei I & II and I think it would be easier to patch since it's on the SNES instead of the NES, but I say ''I think'' so that's just speculation, I know nothing of ROM hacking.

Lately I've noticed all the games I yearned for a translation had it already, I've so much playing to catch up with that I feel lost.

Yet from the depths of my memory came an awesome obscure game that remains Japanese only. It's called 'Linda cube again', a PS1 remake from a PC Engine title. It's in the format of an old school RPG yet with innovative features such as capturing monsters, with some funny (sometimes gory) anime cutscenes here and there. Also Noah's ark.

I played it as a kid at my buddy's house, without having a clue of what was going on all the time. Anyone else know it? It's rare I find anyone who knows this game.

I'd really like to see "Ogre Battle: Legend of the Zenobian Prince" for the Neo Geo Pocket translated someday.

I'm a big fan of the series, and considering the relative popularity of the series among RPG buffs, I'd always thought it weird that no one had attempted a fan translation. I know it's just a side story, but I figured some die hard fan would have gotten curious about it by now.

The blue crystal rod by namco (AHEM) i mean by "namcot" this game is apparently the "final" chapter in the tower of druaga series with the return of ishtar being the game coming before this one. so the sequence of games being chapter 0: the quest of KI > chapter 1: tower of druaga > chapter 2: return of ishtar > chapter 3: the blue crystal rod. the two games in the series we don't seem to have so happen to be CH.0 and CH.3. what i meant to say is i want quest of Ki AND the blue crystal rod because i want the TOD series to come to a close finally

I... is Tales of Destiny set in the Druaga universe? I was under the impression the Destiny bonus dungeon was ... not in continuity. Like the Tekken ads.

Anyways, screwthe Druaga games. I want Tales of Destiny 2 in english.
Maybe even Tales of Destiny 3: More Rutee. That's a game, right?

All I know about Druaga is that Nightmare of Druaga: Fushigino Dungeon was pretty terrible.

Eh, it probably won't be everything I dreamed of and more anyways. I could never really get into Eternia because the more complex battle engine made it a lot less fun to just charge in and wail on people.

Title: Re: What games would you like to see get trans

That's interesting, since I started into the series with Tales of Destiny (it was one of my first Playstation RPGs along with Wild Arms, so both have a special place in my heart) but liked Tales of Eternia better gameplay-wise. Tales of Destiny's battle system is a little clunky.

Screw Craymel Ball in Tales of Eternia though :|

If I work on any Druaga game, it'll be Seme COM Dungeon Drrrrruaga. Probably not BCR. Sorry.

Also, for the purposes of the people in this thread who may or may not realize this, TOD can stand for both Tales of Destiny and Tower of Druaga. Which makes it confusing 'cuz there's a Tower of Druaga based on Tower of Druaga in Tales of Destiny.

Spin slash to get in the middle of the enemy party, vortex to rip them to shreds. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Well for me it was spam Demon Hammer until I learned Omega Demon Chaos... ok you win :V

If you want a spin on the old Tales of battle system you might be interested in Tales of Innocence on DS (it got a fan translation last year), which, while not made by Tales Studio and the characters are kind of bleah, lets you use any special attack in the air! Oooh fancy.

And now we might wanna stop derailing the thread XD

And since I have a PSP with CFW and can therefore play PS1 games on it, could someone apply the AGTP translations of SMT 1 and 2 to their PSone versions? I say someone because I'm sure Gideon Zhi would have more important things to work on.

Nothing's out of the question. Any random game you see that looks awesome can be submitted, regardless of platform.
Anything is eligible, because this thread exists more as a way to and open our eyes to some of the stuff we haven't seen than anything else.

At least, that's the spirit I view the thread in, since it's the only spirit that doesn't get it locked and all of us banned. :P

On an unrelated note: a long time back I plugged X68000 Zelda-ish Etoile Princesse.
I bring it up again because I found VIDEO!

Also, the same company made a polygon shooter called Geograph Seal.

Geograph Seal might look familiar, as the company responsible is known in the west for exactly one thing: Jumping Flash!, which is pretty clearly descended from Geograph Seal.

What do you all think the chances are of seeing a finished Illusion City translation down the line, and preferably the Mega CD version?  It looks to be a great post-apocolyptic / cyberpunk game, with some Shadowrun and Snatcher-esque qualities.  The cinematics and music really made a great impression on me.  I hope with CD Projeckt's (The Witcher games) upcoming cyberpunk rpg will help boost the market for such a setting, and possibly make it so this game can be experienced by everybody.

You sure can!  Just don't use certain keywords that might run afoul of "the rules" in the process. Words like "request."

Seriously, though. Don't consider this a request thread. Consider it a "check out this awesome game" thread. If it starts looking  like a request thread, it goes bye-bye. And then we all lose out.

That does look like an awesome game, though.
