damn paperwork!

looks like those White Sands guys are bureaucrats at heart; I'm afraid I'll be busy tomorrow and unable to help with space combat training.

PS Jaybee you know that we don't plan to go to mars, right?

Ugh. Don't jinx us, please.

That's Gai's territory, not mine. Y'know, since you like to insist on how little say I have over your actions. *Smile*

I'm gonna go do some work in the sim, if anyone needs me.

I need you... to eat laser!
*heads to the sim*

Hey, y'all! How goes the space training?

*looks at the puddles of vomit in and around the holodeck*
That badly, huh?

*checks sim settings*
Ummmm, Mason... shouldn't you guys have started with "0G Acclimation" and NOT "Advanced Space Combat Maneuvers?"

"Where's the fun in that?"

Right, right...
Maybe the insanity IS contagious.

Well, carry on. I DO recommend you quit trying to make them eject their digestive system and start getting them ready for 0G combat, though.

I'd like to see some acclimation progress before we lift off.
If for no other reason than I don't wanna get splashed if the artificial gravity hiccups.

"I... hadn't thought of that. All right folks! Change of plans!"

You're a good man.

And that's why I chose a private sim.

Looking at the GEIM system.  So far it's inactive, but the problem I'm having is figuring out why.  Everything looks like it's in place, but as far as I can tell it's just off.  It looks like there are some components relating to it that are in other parts of the Valsion so it looks like it's gonna be a while before I can figure out whats up.  About the customizations, I am trying to see what we can add but something is strange.  At certain points it looks like the parts have been swapped.  It shouldn't affect normal performance, but from what I've seen this thing isn't like the other mass produced machines.

I wonder if it was built for something else.........Hm?  Oh, never mind what I just said.  Just thinking out loud.  I'll let you know if I find anything else.

It would figure that out of all the mechs I could have stolen, I ended up hijacking the interesting one. Life's real funny like that, sometimes.

On another note, I'm starting to get the hang of this space combat thing, but I imagine I'm gonna need some real experience before I can consider myself actually decent at it. Just don't expect me to be the super god of asskickery I usually am during a fight.

I already had some, but I always wind up blowing chunks whenever I go Zero-G. Even the thought of being in a situation without gravity makes me nausious.

My current inventory is: One transforming katana, one flight suit, one Caster, various Caster shells, one gallant (including stock and barrel) and an optimistic attitude.

I've piloted a shuttle before, but I was relying on someone else to do the actual fighting. It is with that experience in mind that I can safely say that escort missions suck no matter what you're driving.

I dunno, Andrew. If you get spacesick that easily, maybe you should sit this next one out.

(BOOOOM)

*COUGH*HACK*

DAMN, I hope I get hazard pay for this.  Okay, here's my report.  I've got good news, bad news, and crap that'll make you piss yourself.  Good news is the GEIM System is out of commision.  Turns out that the system was built throughout the entire frame of the Valsion, more on why in a minute.  The swapped parts look like they removed the important components to make it look normal to anyone who would work on it after they were done with it.

Bad news is I think I know what the purpose of this unit was for.  I took a look at the pilot registration to get an idea of who might have been involved in the base.  It gave a few names of what it says are test pilots, thing is a few have no rank.  The names are Angie, Angelina, Angelita... you get the idea.  I think this has to do with the Newtype project that Chaostic mentioned a while ago.  My theory is that they were using this machine to monitor the newtype powers as they developed.  The removal of the equipment was probably an attempt to cover up their work.  Unfortunately, they did such a patch job with it that we'd have to take it apart piece by piece if we wanted to add anything.  They probably wanted to erase the evidence as quick as possible without having to dispose of the Valsion.

Now comes the part where you'll piss yourself Derek.  I was checking the inside to see what we could do with it when I found what I thought was faulty wiring.  I figured I'd fix it while I look and noticed it was actually a BOMB!!  I took a look around the machine on a hunch and found similar devices placed in vital parts of the machine.  They were all wired to the Valsion's computer so I check it out.  Turns out that if anyone unauthorized to use it happened to pilot it, it was set to self destruct after it was used for a specific time.  I figured I'd deactivate the bombs since they seemed simple enough (having of course noticed the booby trap for the detonation device).  Turns out some sicko booby trapped the booby trap.  Didn't do any damage though since I disconnected it from the bombs, just made a loud bang...a REALLY loud bang, like the I'm-sure-my-ears-are-bleeding bang.  At this point I'm curious as to why they just didn't scrap it instead of going through the trouble of taking out all the parts and rigging it.

Then a message pops up on the screen.  I won't read it out loud in detail since I'm sure the blood will fill up my ears any minute and because of the fact that it was for Derek personally.  Basically it said"I knew you would pick the machine that killed millions of people, blahblahblah, you're evil, you kill puppies for fun, goodbye, Hate, Luna."

.....Okay so it didn't exactly say that, but it was meant for you five seconds before the bombs went off so give me I break.  It's a bit more descriptive than that so feel free to read it.  I'm heading to the doc right now.  No one talk to me right now(mostly because I won't hear you anyway), I'm not in the mood.

Hmm....Lemme take a look.....

.......Ah. Ahah. That's one I haven't seen in awhile.

The good news is, I can tell you with complete certainty that this one here wasn't the work of Blue Luna. The fact that Rena doesn't believe in using cheap tricks like a rigged mech was my first clue. She might not play nice, but she definately plays fair, with a pretty set formula for our battles taken straight out of The Rulebook That Cleaves Evil. Me, her, and a moonlit night are all she needs.

The bad news is, the fact that this happened reveals two things. One, someone is aware that she and I have had at least one encounter in the last few months, hence why they'd try setting it up to look like she did it. My guess on that is that it would give you guys someone to blame if something sudden were to happen to me, i.e. the Valsion suddenly deciding to go boom for no apparent reason with me inside.

Two, someone was aware at least far enough in advance of our, or at least MY movements to plant the Val in the first place, fully expecting me to jump at the opportunity to grab it and set myself up the bomb, as one would say. That takes either some serious foresight in guessing that we'd hit the Gate Project sooner or later, or they're doing a much better job of second-guessing us than we thought.

I've got an idea of who pulled this, but I'm not going to worry about it until after we get back from Jupiter. If I'm right, and there's really a 95% chance that I am, then they don't operate any further out than the moon anyway, so it's not like we'd be able to do anything to them until after this operation.
