"Derek-sama! Derek-sama!"

What is it, Fuyume?

"Sume-san forgot to put me on the list!"

Fuyume, that's the equipment roster--no, forget it. I'm not even going to try figuring it out. I'll just assume you're talking about the Fei-Yen and not think any further on it.

"......"

....What?

"You're cranky when you're tired, Derek-sama....."

You're kidding, right? You should see me after a six day insomnia run. This is just five hours of sleep in two days. I'm doing fine.

"If you say so...."

sorry keeping up with added equipment and personnel is rather difficult since we've gotten so much recently

Actually, I just remembered something. What did we ever do with those ten Lion F drones I brought with me when I ganked the Val? I know we're too hard up for stuff to just be tossing things out left and right.

Same thing we did with the Ginns, Granas knows however many we stole.
Found a deep dark crevasse in the armory and shoved them in.

We're not hard up for gear. Just pilots.
When you have things like a Giganscudo and a FAZZ Gundam sitting unused, you have a chronic manpower shortage.

And chief, I think Quattro might object to his Hyaku Shiki being put in as unpiloted.

I need to get ahold of Britai and find out exactly what he's carrying.

we're coming into sensor range everyone be on alert.

Operator do you see anythimg

Operator "no sir....".

*Stares intently a a point on the view screen*

point our primary array at Y-7-6

Operator: "roger that"
*a brief silence as the operator examines his panel*
Operator: "what the hell?"

what is it?

Operator: "I don't know but it's black and about the same size as the White Star; furthermore it seems to be in the opposite position as the White Star with earth as the center point between them."

what does that mean?

Jaybee, Derek, are you coming up with the same data?

White Star, Black Star....

If I were a betting man, which I tend to be, depending on how many I've had that day, I would say we don't need a bigger gun, we need several.

Hey Admiral Kridanik, did the Zentradi ghost story about the Balmar Empire ever mention anything about the Nega Star, here?

Welllllll...
if there's no objections, I think we can handle one easily.
As we learned in Space War 1, there's a VERY effective strategy you can use on large nigh-impenetrable space fortresses.
We've got enough hardware to provide the Macross an escort, unless more ships start showing up.
And the Macross usually has a stock of reaction warheads aboard it "just in case."

Without knowledge of the ships' internal plans, we can't GUARANTEE a kill on either one, but...

A couple hundred nukes detonating in the chewy candy center instead of pelting against the crunchy outer shell, possibly followed by a barrier overload wave... I think it's safe to assume some serious damage will be dealt.

But it's hard to do twice in one day. Hell, it's hard to do twice to anyone that sees it the first time.

I believe the logic is that you're not supposed to see it more than once.

And I wonder, personally. The Macross idea is, by far, the most insane and therefore logical idea we've had yet, but it's a pretty risky gamble. The Aerogaters have obviously been watching us for some time now, right? Meteor 3 and all that. Do you think it's possible that they're aware of how things went during SW1? The Macross tends to have a pretty long history with the tactic of busting it's way through the hull and wrecking the place from the inside. I mean, I recall from a few of the records that the Zentradi actually started planning for it after it became a regular thing. You think these guys might expect the possibility?

Suicidal as it sounds, it could actually be safer to the fleet as a whole for a much smaller group to give that plan a shot. Sneak/blast our way in, find the closest it has to a core or control center, and then drop the nukes and get the hell out. Crazy, sure, but I think we're used to that by now.

Jaybee I think it might work, but not with the Macross itself...

Max, how fast can that new ship of yours get here?

Max: "If there is a relatively clear area it could fold here in about half an hour; with conventional  thrust about 2 days."

A Daedalus or ARMD Attack is a whole different kinda crazy than a Macross Attack. :)
The extent of countermeasure planning for a full-ship intrusion pretty much boils down to "keep the crazy kamikaze humans OUTSIDE the hull."
And thus, this tactic will likely result in them throwing everything they have at one ship as soon as we send it accelerating on a collision course.
With the barrier engaged, we can't use beam weaponry, so we'd be dependent on an escort for defense.

An omnidirectional barrier removes the need to outrun an insanely huge explosion or play with timers and risk being foiled.
You just kick in the barrier and let it eat fire until the inevitable overload sends out a counter-wave and tears anything left to shreds. Sure you fuck your barrier generator twelve different ways in the process, but... it's safe and easy.

Hey, chief, if we've got another ship with the proper equipment, why not try doing two of them at once?

Actually...
Admiral Kridanik, was the Death Pickle ever refit with a barrier system?

"I'm afraid not. It's too reliant on beam weaponry. An active barrier system renders it defenseless, ironically."

Ah well...

And none of our other ships  have the proper shield technology.
It's better in a lot of ways, and I'll be the first to admit that the systems used by Spacey ships have some major flaws. But for sheer damage absorption in extreme conditions you just can't beat UNS barriers.
The Kurogane could make it inside with that absurd drill on it's bow. IF we knew where it was.
But I'd be seriously worried about it getting back out before all hell broke loose. Suicide missions don't appeal to me.

Jaybee you do remember what Max said the new battleship is right?

about the simultaneous attack we have one problem; besides the Hagane and Hiryu most of the EF is still running around like a gaggle of headless chickens.  and we don't have enough forces to protect both ships.

now then, I've been going over our observation data for the Twin Stars and it looks like this one is a giant factory ship with no living caretakers it just sits there producing megillots

I vote we trash it before the White Star because the longer it sits here the worst things get for us
