  Your first SRW

Those who attend this forum frequently obviously wait eagerly for news of the next Super Robot Wars game.  However, to see where we are heading, we must often look back to where we began.
Okay, I'll stop trying to sound important.  SImply put, What got you to play SRW and how did you end up here.

My answer is simply roms.  I had just discovered the joy of playing games that were no longer available to the general public for the SNES.  A few of my trips for translations had brought me here, however these were rare and were for only a few games such as Ys and Shin Megami Tensei.  At this point, I was obsessing more over my discovery of the retranslation of FF6 and banging my head over how to get Star Ocean to work (this was either before ZNES had managed to automatically decompress it or I had a very old version; I was very much a noob then, still am in many ways)
Eventually I moved on to playing the GBA and found SRW OG.  At this time I had a severe deprivation of anime because even though I had seen SRW 3 mentioned plenty of times on sites, somehow wars and taisen managed to get categorized as two different things.  I don't remember exactly how I tied the two together, but I definitely know the Alpha Gaiden demo video had something to do with it (no it wasn't the discription he wrote for it).

Same here with the ROMs, my friend. I was first starting out playing ROMs and found my way to this website. I found out about SRW 3 and eventually started playing, when I learned how to patch. I love it because it plays like fanfiction. I already know I'm a nerd, I don't need anyone commenting about it.

My current inventory is: One transforming katana, one flight suit, one Caster, various Caster shells, one gallant (including stock and barrel) and an optimistic attitude.

I never knew a thing about roms or emulators when I first played a SRT game

I used to receive "Nintendo Power" and saw a small article about OG 1 & 2 being announced and thought (having been a mech fan since Voltron and Robotech aired on CN) "this looks cool"

so when it (OG 1) finally come out I went and bought a copy, it's one of few things I can say I will never regret doing.

Pure absolute boredom one day and an OCD need to try all of Gid's translations at least once. That's how SRW3 and I met.

We hit it off immediately.

It actually wasn't until the AGGF thread started that I got really serious about it, though. Finding OG1 helped tremendously.

dragonmasterjb0: Apparently, in the new series, Lina is arrested at one point on charges of being Lina Inverse.

The rest of the party, in typical Slayers fashion, gives a reaction to the effect of "Sounds reasonable."

I saw a video of stoner sunshine in a game and had to trace everything that had anything to do with it. for the first one I played, it was 3. Not much to say there, except some blood vessels popped by stage 51.

At the end of things, just-faiz the means.

Cartoon Network was in their first run of Gundam Wing, and I'm prone to getting obsessive about anything, even not-very-good mech animes. I also didn't know a lot about the franchise at the time.

I did a google search for "gundam games" and found something about the SRW franchise.

I downloaded a few ROM images.

I played through most of SRW4 and SRWGaiden. Without having a  clue what was going on.

At the time of direct downloads (10 years agao) I was looking out of nostalgia for all my fav cartoon of my youth.
Starting with the most famous here in France, Goldorak (grendizer).
I found out about games where he appeared and got a rom of SRW4 for the SNES. I started playing in jp out of curiosity and got hooked by the gameplay. I then got the patch and was officially a fan of SRW and discovered SRPG by the way.

Then I only played a few SRw til the end, SRW A, SRW Alpha and now enjoying OG2 after having finished the 1.

But thx to SRW I discovered games like FFT and other gems.

A true love story, too bad Grendizer does not appear in the Alpha series though...
