Corsair, your Atropops is big, gaudy and custom. It sticks out like a sore thumb, everyone knows exactly who it belongs to, and it's completely useless in a stealth operation like Main Event.

:(

It's not realy *that* big..i mean it's only somewhat more bulky than a plain-jane guntank....
But I suppose you're right...

*sits out another* one*

Why can't we ever get involved in open areas?

Whatever the case I picked up a rumor a little while back about a small storehouse with a bunch of obsolete Gouf MS's not too far from here...a little bit to the south. I could check that out and feasibly hijack one. I'm pretty handy with a wrench and if you give me the space and the time to find a decent crew, i could probably have it souped up, set to standards and ready for battle in no time. It's amazing how much waste it's engineers put unto the design and with a few minor modifications it could theoretically be made into a little bit of hell on earth. It's a perfect close range unit that I or someone else could use when a pair of cannons isn't really what the situation calls for, and in terms of terrain, is fairly versatile.

Also If we come across any of the more advanced Dom type units, i'd like at least one to have it's thrusters intact for salvage. i've got a few ideas....

JayBee the time of your mission is 1700 hrs Pantheon time

I give you permission to sortie at any time after that

and BTW

the town group now contains

Derek
JayBee
Sume Gai
Andrew
Ianator

we still need 4 pilots including someone to handle the Exia (if no volunteers I'll do it)  and don't think taking part in JayBees sortie disqualifies you from participating

Hey, read the next sentence before you go back to bed!
I invited you to the REAL fun. Did you honestly want to just sit around under a tarp in the city all week?

If you want some action, get your mech ready.
Like I said, I need you to help bust some carriers.

We can get you that Gouf later. It never hurts to have another mech.

Derek, thanks for the sensor scramblers. We'll make good use of 'em.

I'll tag along for the attack on the transport.  The Nu may be good against troops, but that doesn't mean it can't do anything against a ship.  Nu doesn't carry a Hyper Bazooka to look tough.

All right.
For some REAL fun, wait until a mech hatch opens, then lob a bazooka shell in through the guy in the door. Why bother piercing the armor when they already did it for you? :D

Until they get some emchs on the ground, I'll be blasting their ships' guns. Trying to conserve missiles for a change. I should have time to reload once we're home, but with my loader acting up, I don't want to count on it..

Dsvaun, Bastard King Corsair, I've got the  crew prepping your mechs. We launch in a half-hour.
I don't expect us to get back until some time tomorrow afternoon so pack something to eat.
Once we're back, we feast in celebration.
And then those of us on the Main Event team reload and head to town.
...
Yeah, it's gonna be busy for a little while.

I'm gonna spent a little time recalibrating 'Scythe and getting used to all the extra little gizmos that 'Scythe Hell brings to the table. After that, I'm gonna go back to Kyris and get in touch with my friends there, so we'll have some of our work set up for us ahead of time. Now that I've got 'Scythe back, it should be child's play to move in and out of town on my own. Plus, it gives me another chance to check out the occupation there, and see if there's anything else we should watch out for.

On my way back, I think I'll check out this storehouse rumor, and see what that's all about. Even if the suits are just junk, we can always use spare parts.

I should be back sometime tonight, more than early enough to pick up the Exia pilot and take them into town. From there, we'll go as we need to.

Alright, I'm back. Good news, I got ahold of Haruka, my friend in Kyris. She's gonna get things taken care of on her end, and help us out with our infiltration.

Speaking of, she and I had a nice little conversation about that Dubude's sensory network. Apparently, that thing saw the same fight that the Durageiz did, and actually had to park here near town to get their "assistance" in repairing the thing. That's why they've got such an overbearing presence here, actually. Bask's just been sending guys in to make sure nothing funny happens while they get repairs. Point is, they're having to rely on a pretty flimsy radar tower that they built on the spot to cover themselves while they fixed the sensory suite on that Dubude. And as it stands, they're still not having any luck with it. There's a good chance that some replacement parts to the thing is on that transport as well.

Anyway, to make a long story short, Haruka explained to me that, while the radar tower itself could very likely fall over if someone just sneezed hard enough at it, it's actually fairly powerful. Certainly not enough to spot 'Scythe or even Alex from the distance I was parked at yesterday, but possibly strong enough to nail us if we continue with the plan as is. Obviously, that needs to be fixed, and I have an idea how.

Haruka can get me a disguise to get into the basecamp. From there, I just find the radar tower, hack the thing, and either give us some blind spots in the system, or just rig something up on remote so that an "accidental" system failure occurs right while we're getting ready. Radar tower's down, we continue with the operation.

For me to have that kind of time, though, I'm gonna need to leave again pretty soon. And since I'm the Exia pilot's ride, that pretty much means that whoever's going needs to get ready. We leave, and I take care of the tower while they get the new suit. If I don't have a volunteer soon, I'm gonna have to leave without them, and I can't guarantee that I'll have a chance to come back before the op starts tomorrow.

So, who's the lucky test pilot?

*lands, heads to mess hall*
Whoo!

I love Zeon carrier design. Whatever idiot thought that mechs should just line up and leap from a hatch one by one should be given a medal. It makes our lives so much easier.

The transport tried to cut and run as soon as we showed up. A pair of micromissiles up the tailpipe fixed that. Yes folks, I CAN . practice restraint.

The lead Zanzibar never even got it's mech hatch open before it went up in smoke.
The other 4 did only marginally better. They got a few mobile suits on the ground, but we picked them off almost as fast as they landed.
I'm pretty sure they were counting on advance warning so they could get some 'suits deployed BEFORE we started shooting at them. Because otherwise that's the worst escort ever.

The transport WAS booby-trapped, by the way. Not well enough to keep us from stealing anything, but enough to keep us from stealing the big stuff.

Haven't checked the crates too closely, since we were kinda in a hurry. I only scanned 'em close enough to make sure there weren't any explosives, bioweapons, transmitters, or troops in the boxes. But I'm pretty sure it's not missile casings full of cotton candy.

Worst case scenario, we stole a lifetime supply of self-sealing stem bolts.I'm hoping it's more along the lines of upgrade modukes. You can never have enough tesla drives, right?

AGGF TRANSMISSION DETECTED FROM UNIT 00-02 TO ALL FRIENDLY UNITS. CONNECTION ESTABLISHED.

"Okay guys, status update. I've got the radar tower running a continuous loop of "All Clear", so we're good on that end. And in case it's not obvious from the fact that I'm even transmitting, I managed to sneak onto the Dubude and hack their comm system enough so that they can't pick up our frequency. Gives us a little extra maneuvering room while we set up shop.

Haruka's going around and making sure that the civvies know we're coming and will be ready to find shelter once the fighting starts, so that's another good thing in our favor. I need to remember to buy that woman a drink when this is over.

This oughta be simple, but watch your backs, guys. We never know what might happen. Barona, out."

TRANSMISSION ENDED.
