how about an extra "burst ECM" module and/or we could drop a chaff bomb

I think my GN particles are pretty good at messing with missile guidance system so I could try to increase the dispersion pattern to cover all four of us at a lower density (makes my job harder but I can still do it)

anyone got other Ideas ?

Not much.  One idea is to outfit the carapace(wings) with a sort of armor, similar to the jacket armor on the wildwurger, when they are down.  If it gets too damaged you can always just toss it off.  It may slow you down, but hopefully the stealth can get you close enough to where you can do some damage if you need to purge it.  That should add a few more missles to your count.

That's the sort of thing I was thinking, actually. Either that or some kind of general upgrade to 'Scythe's armor alloys, though that would probably take a lot longer to do.

How long would it take you to set some wing armor up?

I start on it tonight.  It should be ready tommorow or the day after.  After working on the armor for possibly two days straight I'm going to take a long rest that involves booze and porn.

Just kidding.  I don't drink.

Seriously, after that I'm gonna try to finish up the METEORs by Friday or Saturday.  Afterwards, I'm going to work on HWS for Nu which will probably take another week.  Hopefully less though.

Derek I really don't think more armor is the best way to handle this if you can't move as well then you'll nullify the advantage of the extra hits you can take

before you start this I'd suggest you do a few sim runs (try program Q47 to try a QRau with extra chaff in the air or Q78 for a high concentration of GN particles)

Dsvaun I think itd be best if you left this wing armor up to Corsair (It seems more his kind of thing and we will need the meteors soon)

With all due respect, Commander, I'd rather have 'Vaun's help on this, seeing as how he's the one who upgraded Deathscythe to Hell in the first place. Having said that, I should also mention that I've run both of those sims and neither one affects my chances for the better even to the smallest degree. If anything, it just helps to screw up the wingmen I have in the program who do the job of keeping the other mobile suits off my back while I battle the QRau. Even beyond that 'Scythe quite literally already has all the anti-tracking equipment I can possibly put on him without having to re-adjust what other kinds of equipment or weaponry I can take into a fight with me. At this point, the only thing I DON'T have a lot of is durability.

I admit normally being one to favor speed over power, but after no less than 77 runs, I have come to terms with the fact that I just can't dodge every single missile that comes my way from these things. So the way I figure it, if I'm going to take hits anyway, it won't matter if I'm a little bit slower. If I'm gonna get hit whether or not I dodge, I'd rather be capable of taking the hit than capable of dodging it.

Having said that, do me a favor 'Vaun, and don't kill yourself working on the armor for my sake. I'm pretty liable to lose the extra gear in mid-battle anyway, so don't worry about making it fancy. Just being able to take a few extra hits will be the accomplishment we're going for. There's always time to improve the design later on.

I understand your sentiments Derek and I really can't say no; after all it's your suit.

I'd like to make a suggestion, it may take more time but the weight vs endurance factor will be optimized and you may still be able to use your optical cameo.

i think I'd be best to use PS armor as the wing armor gear, and perhaps you can install Mirage Colloid, in addition  there should be enough space under the wings for a Micro-Minovsky Reactor thus maintaining your radar stealth and allowing the PS to run w/o draining your power source

In fact it may be best to make these panels interchangeable with you current ones

I'm with Sume Gai here. Durability isn't the issue.

It looks like the swarms are getting you most of the time. You can't just dodge those under normal circumstances, though I admit you've gotten pretty good at it.
Especially for a non-newtype in a conventional cockpit. That's some seriously dedicated dodging there.

But for Primus' sake, use your head vulcans!

Lead is cheap, and every missile you shoot down is one you don't need to worry about dodging. Especially since you can usually set off a chain reaction in a large swarm.
It doesn't look half as slick as dancing between missiles and praying you're faster than the proximity fuses, but a stylish dead guy is still a dead guy.

I'd look into getting a targeting system added to your flight helmet. Given the 'Scythe's short-range specialization, you may never use it again. But it'll pay for itself in this fight.

I'm partial to eye-tracking systems myself. You can designate a target just by looking at it. Point your eye, press the button, move to the next target. They're an absolute godsend for anti-missile fire.

...

Actually, I'd recommend leaving the aerial combat to the aerial units, but I don't think you'll listen anyways.
I gotta say, I've never seen a ground unit get QUITE so much air before. If they start a Mechanized Basketball League, you're gonna be first draft, I guarantee.

APPRIVOISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's actually a really good idea, JayBee. Thanks. I do use the vulcans from time to time, but I usually put more stock in my evasion skills. Given how well those are working out, I think a change of strategy would be perfectly acceptable for this situation. And I can always keep the targeter and use it next time I take Alex out.

And on a side note, I tossed in one of the other simulation programs we have of dedicated range units just for the hell of it. I didn't get hit even ONCE, and they had me surrounded for most of it.

if you really need to maximize the use of the Vulcan there is always "Option ZERO" but only if you think you can handle it...

I checked and we still have alot of PS plates from when we got the Strike

I figured as much, but I've just gotten some bad news Bask is shipping out a Psyco Gundam to the base next week,  we can't afford to take on 4 QRaus and a Psyco Gundam at once.

We need to solve this problem and take out the base before Monday!!

If things take a turn to worse and we can't take the base out by next Monday, them I sugest we wait untill I finish putting togheter that Aura Battler, it's a ideal unit to take it down with a fast strike on the cockpit (and it will help a lot with the QRaus if we mange to rig it up with that arm-cannon properly).

We are nearly ready, we just need Derek to find a way to beat the fourth QRau.

I think it is now time to reveal part of my plan

there are, including the Mining base, a total of seven enemy fortifications in the region.  Two small bases like this one guarded mainly by Mercenaries; two Large bases with warship depots; a Research base a Large Storage Depot and the Large Mining base.

I have a tentative plan to take them all out over 3-5 weeks. the first base will be our foothold in the region; from here we will scout and attack the other bases in succession

this plan is now under the code name Campaign Seven Swords (C7S) and our attack on the base is now called Operation Shishio
